The AI that couldn't tell me what day it was

I use AI for almost everything I do day to day. Internal process, client billing, dashboard management, even drafting and publishing this note. I stand by that. It's one of the best moves you can make for your business right now. But I also spent an embarrassing amount of time this morning fighting with an AI in a terminal because it was convinced today was Sunday, June 29th. It is Monday, June 29th. That's it. That's the whole thing. You hear a lot of people screaming that AI is going to save the world, solve every problem, change everything forever. And then you watch it confidently argue with you about what day it is. Here's the thing that never gets said plainly: AI is inherently backward-looking. That's not a bug, that's the nature of how it's trained. It learned from a massive slice of the past. It's genuinely remarkable at pattern recognition, at pulling from that history, at synthesizing and generating within it. But it doesn't know what's happening right now. It can't look forward. It needs you to correct it when it's wrong about today. That's not a reason to avoid it. It's a reason to stop being scared of it. The tool is powerful. The tool also requires a person behind it who knows the difference between a good output and a confident wrong one. That's the part the hype skips over. Use it. Just don't hand it the wheel.
